“Can Caranta” is situated on the Medieval town of Pals. Quiet area and nice views, located in the heart of “Baix Empordà” (Costa Brava). At 7km from the magnificent beaches of Pals, Sa Riera, Sa Tuna, Calella de Palafrugell, Llafranc or Tamariu.
The town of Pals is a medieval walled enclosed, now restored and very well conserved. The first reference to the town dates from 889. With just over 2,800 inhabitants Pals and the surrounding area offer you a wide range of things to do, from organised activities to gastronomic routes with the most exquisite recipes.
You can play golf, scuba dive or go windsurfing at the beach of Pals. You can enjoy nature by walking over the dunes or cycling through the rice fields.
All around the town centre you can see splendid Gothic buildings, like the present-day museum of submarine archaeology Ca La Pruna, a fortified mansion from the 15th-16th century. It also holds a permanent exhibition of wines and cavas of Catalonia, a room offering temporary exhibitions of painters and sculptors.
Around Pals you will also find riding clubs that will satisfy horse lovers. Also routes and courses for beginners.
And if you like doing sport playing tennis, paddle, football, basketball, beach volleyball and anything you could imagine… even skateboarding at the Palafrugell skate park.
ACTIVITIES AROUND Enjoy the surrounding secluded beaches of: Platja de Pals, Sa Riera & Sa Tuna (only at 7 km).
One of the most characteristic pictures of the coastline is the wide-open 3.5 kilometre long Pals beach with the Medes Islands in the background. Its special topography makes it the ideal spot to practice all types of water sports like windsurfing.
Or if you prefer enjoying the surrounding secluded beaches of: Aiguablava, Calella de Palafrugell, Llafranc or Tamariu (10minutes by car). Small sandy bays with rocky headlands, pine trees and clean water.
Only a few kilometers from Pals, in the town of L’Estartit, is the Medes Islands Marine Reserve, an archipelago formed by seven small islands that are admired the world over by people who practice underwater sports. A perfect place to practice: scuba diving, sea watching, snorkeling… and you don’t need to be an expert, because you will find professionals who will guide you and show you the most marvelous places in this privileged sea bed.
On foot or by bicycle and at your own speed browse as far as you like, along the network of 350km of paths that is currently to be found at the Costa Brava, or through the rice fields or along the dunes of the beach, to magnificent viewpoints at the seaside or the archaeological remains of the Empordà…and of course, along the coastal paths: an impressive route that comes down to the sea between cliffs and joins up all the beaches of the Costa Brava.
Pals organises a large number of markets, festivities, fairs, open air-cinema and concerts, and at Christmas it stages a Living Nativity in the attractive settings offered by its old town.
At 10 Km is La Bisbal d’Empordà famous for its ceramics. Close by are the Roman ruins at Ullestret, and many other historic medieval villages. Girona (capital of the province), with its Roman and Arabic history which can be seen in the old part of the city, also has a modern side, with great shopping, restaurants and night clubs (a 35 minutes drive).
The hills of the Gavarres, (10 minutes drive) are well known for walking and mountain biking.
However, you can also discover the Empordà from the air… in a balloon, a helicopter or an ultra-light aircraft, you will have a unique experience to remind you of Pals.
